Chapter 1 - Course Overview

INTRODUCTION:

Welcome to the world of Travel, Tourism and Hospitality.  The instructor will explain the content of the course and discuss the student materials.

OBJECTIVES:

                The student will be able to:    

ü                  Identify at least three instructor and student expectations

ü                  Become familiar with student materials and course content

INSTRUCTOR NOTES:

It is important that both the student and staff expectations be discussed.

Explain the contents of the course as it relates to the career plans of the students. Remind the students that this course is designed to train them for a position in a variety of companies within the travel industry.

Have students review the course syllabus. Discuss the course materials with the students.

Conduct

A student is expected to behave as a professional at all times.  Students should direct questions to the instructor.  If an answer cannot be found immediately, the instructor will research the answer and follow up later with the students.

  Homework

Students should expect homework periodically. 

  Testing

The testing schedule should be given to the students at this time.

The course will consist of:           

4    Codes tests  (25 points X 4) =      100 points

2    Exams                               =      50 points (each)

1    Final                                 =      100 points


Certification
Requirements

Students will be required to achieve an 80% overall grade point average to be certified.

     

Probation  

A student may be placed on probation for the following reasons:

                        ·        GPA falls below 80% 

·        Individual school probationary guidelines  

·        Student behavior problems  

They will remain on probation through the next grading period.
